Exclusive Interview: Bobby Bostick

Bobby Bostick Promotions followed up its signing of former welterweight champion Cory Spinks, by signing another welterweight player, hard-hitting Kermit "The Killer" Cintron. Despite Cintron suffering a one-sided loss to current WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, Bostick feels Cintron's performance against Margarito was an isolated incident, "Kermit suffered a setback in his last fight, but there are reasons for that. We at Bobby Bostick Promotions have no doubt that Kermit's going to get right back to doing what he does best, knock people out." Read on to see what else Bostick had to say.

GL: How did you and Kermit Cintron hook up and what made you sign him coming off of his last performance?

Bobby Bostick: "Firstly, in his last fight Kermit suffered a setback but there are reasons for that. We at Bobby Bostick Promotions have no doubt that Kermit's going to get right back to doing what he does best, knock people out. We reached out to Kermit because we know what he's capable of and we're looking forward to reaching the mountaintop together."

GL: When can we expect his first fight to take place?

Bobby Bostick: "There's a couple of things we're working on and we've got some major announcements to make, but it's looking like it's going to be sometime in late October or early November.

GL: The last time we spoke was shortly after you signed former welterweight champion Cory Spinks. What's the latest with Cory? When will his next fight take place?

Bobby Bostick: "Cory's next fight will definitely take place in St. Louis and we're looking for that to happen as soon as he clears up some issues with his former promoter. Our relationship with the Spinks people is awesome, Kevin Cunningham and Freeman Bosley were great to deal with, they've added James Prince to their team and he has a great reputation within the industry. Cory's a complete gentleman and cooperatively, along with Team Spinks, we're going to help Cory become a two-division world champion at junior middleweight.

GL: Anybody else you're in the process of signing that you can hint of now?

Bobby Bostick: "Like I said, we've got some major announcements to make. There's a couple of guys we're talking to, but obviously I'm not going to negotiate our business through the media, but when there's something to announce I'll give you a call.

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

Bobby Bostick: "Yes. If there's any fighter out there that's a free agent with no promotional ties, they needs to give me a call. I'm looking to build the strongest stable in boxing. I'm planning to shock the world with some of the PPV's we're going to put on. The moves I've been making by signing guys like Cory Spinks and Kermit Cintron are just a ripple compared to the Tsunami I'm coming with. As we speak, I'm in final stages of negotiation to finalize a series of PPV events and we're also in negotiations with another TV network to air boxing once a week on that channel. I can't give out any more info yet, because that would be a breach of contract, but I'll keep you posted. I'm coming into boxing strong and we're not going away. We look forward to dancing with other promoters that might want to sit down and talk to us about deals that makes sense and are feaseable on both sides."
