Exclusive Interview: Allan Green

GL: Congrats on your victory over Sherwin Davis. Can you give us some thoughts on your performance? "I felt real good going into the ring. I know Davis wasn't on my level. At one time he was undefeated prospect so I knew I had to be about my business in there. I knew I was going to get him out quick, just like I told you."

GL: When can we expect to see you back in the ring?

Allan Green: "I wanted to fight in December, but I don't think I'll be able to fight until January. There's a lot of guys I'm looking at Andrade, Taylor, Pavlik, Kessler...I heard Calzaghe is going up after the fight so I'm not going to be looking at him. But Lucian Bute who just defeated Alejandro Berrios, any of those guys, those are the guys I'm looking at."

GL: I spoke with William Joppy earlier. He's going to be campaigning at 168 and he says he'd love to fight you.

AG: "It depends. I know he hasn't fought well. We were supposed to fight before on ESPN, but he wanted too much money. He wouldn't be a bad fight for me now. If the fight presented itself I'd take a look at it, but the names I just mentioned are the guys I want to fight. I plan on being champion in 2008 and for that to happen I have to fight guys like that."

"It felt great to get back in the ring and I'm pleased to be back in my element. I wanted to go at least three rounds with Sherwin Davis, but when I dropped him in the first round I didn't want him to quit on his stool so I got him out of there in the second round."

GL: Who do you like in Calzaghe-Kessler?

AG: "I'm going with Calzaghe. Kessler is OK. Everybody jumped on the Kessler bandwagon after he beat Andrade. I don't know if it's the weight, I don't know what it is, Librado Andrade hasn't looked like himself. In watching the Andrade-Yusaf Mack fight. Even though he won, that fight should have told people something right there because there were a few rounds where he was making Yusaf Mack look like a world beater. That should have told people a lot about what to think of Kessler. I'm not saying he's not a good fighter because he is a good fighter, I just don't think he's on Calzaghe's level. Calzaghe will outbox him and outsmart him."

GL: Thanks for the quickie. Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

AG: "Look for me to be back in the ring in January or February. I will be champion in 2008. The only reason I wouldn't be is because they don't give me the shot."
