WBC soliciting donations

Press Release: World Boxing Cares chairperson Jill Diamond is asking the boxing community to join WBCares and the World Boxing Council in helping Genaro “Chicanito” Hernandez, a former world champion and dear friend who is in need of assistance. Jill sent the following information: “Genaro Hernandez is facing the fight of his life. Diagnosed with a rare cancer, his insurance will not cover his full treatment." Diamond is collecting donations and asks that checks be made payable to World Boxing Cares. “Our beloved WBC world champion Genaro Hernandez is facing the fight of his life. Diagnosed with a rare cancer, his insurance will not cover his full treatment. The World Boxing Council, and our President Jose Sulaiman, urges you to join us in Genaro’s corner.

In September, 2006, Genaro participated, with Erik Morales, in a WBCares visit to the Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
