The twelve-round fight went the distance with Gonzalez falling behind early but rallying back in the second half of the contest. When the socrecards were consulted, the Mexican Estrada won a majority decision, via scores of 114-114, 116-112 and 115-113. This was the third fight of their storied rivalry and Estrada now holds bragging rights with two wins to the Nicaraguan Gonzalez's one. However, a fourth fight could happen in the future because both men are so popular and Gonzalez was arguably robbed of a win by poor judging in their second fight. "If he wants a fourth fight, I think we can do it," said Estrada afterwards.
