Eric Morel pleads no contest to sexual assault

By Scott Shaffer

Eric Morel, a former U.S. Olympian and WBA flyweight champion, has pleaded no contest to charges that he sexually assaulted a girl who was just fifteen years old at the time.  A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but nonetheless can result in jail time.  Morel entered the plea in a Madison, Wisconsin courtroom and was found guilty of second degree sexual assault. He will be sentenced at a date to be announced later.  The incident took place in late 2002 and  also involves Morel's brother and half brother. Morel is currently rated #13 in the Boxingtalk ratings at 115 pounds. source: Associated Press
