At the WBC festivities in Cancun, Mexico over the weekend, Epifanio Mendoza scored a third-round knockout over previously undefeated Alejandro Garcia from Mexico, whose reported record ranges from 7-1 to 13-1. The dangerous Mendoza was defending a WBC regional middleweight title and has now improved to 24-3 (22 KOs) and, according to his attorney Tony Gonzalez, Mendoza will garner a top 6 ranking in the WBC middleweight rankings.  Gonzalez hopes to have the Colombian slugger fight again in March and April, and become Jermain Taylor's mandatory by beating the likes of Ike Quartey, Felix Sturm or Kelly Pavlik.
