Ellis in for Mesquita on Wednesday Night Fights

Edited Press Release: ESPN2 Wednesday Night Fights scheduled for July 5, 2006 in Colorado Springs has a new main event competitor after Antonio Mesquita was prematurely announced as one of the combatants. In, a main event that has saw three opponents come and go, Neil Sinclair of Belfast, North Ireland will return to the ring after a year layoff, with his record of 28-4 with 23 KOs. All of Sinclair’s fights have been in Europe with the biggest name  standing out on his record a loss to former WBO light middleweight title holder Daniel Santos.  Sinclair was stopped in the second round of that bout.  Sinclair's opponent this week will now be Jerome Ellis of The Bahamas, 10-4-1 with 9 KOs.   Sinclair was scheduled to fight Jesse Feliciano when the card was first announced.  Feliciano was replaced by Jeses Soto-Karass when Feliciano substained an injury in camp.  Soto-Karass was then replaced by Antonio Mesquita when Soto-Karass was appearently injured as well.  But Mesquita had already been under contract to fight on August 11 in Utah, so now Ellis will get the chance to battle Sinclair.  Ellis is coming in off a first round knockout of previously undefeated Felix Cepeda in May.  In the co-main, David "Strictly Business" Medina, 10-1, will face Charles Blake, 8-6-1.  Scheduled for a swing bout is Marvin Cordova against TBA, and also Carlos De Leon Jr., 13-1-2.  For ticket information, 928-530-9988 or 719-271-5400.
