Kimbo Slice Following Propels Shaw's Elite XC

Boxing and MMA Promoter Gary Shaw’s Elite XC has signed a deal with CBS  to feature MMA on Saturday nights four times a year. Kimbo Slice will be headlining at least one of the shows.  The first show is tentatively scheduled for sometime in April.  Slice was last seen a couple of weeks ago on Showtime knocking out long time MMA veteran Tank Abbott.  Elite XC will now compete with MMA giant UFC, Mark Cuban’s HDNet, and the former Pride owner’s new organization, Dreams.  MMA’s landscape is starting to look similar to boxing with multiple promoters obtaining various broadcast contracts, although the MMA promoters seem willing to promote their stars through network TV and basic cable, rather than only premium channels and PPV.  Source: PTI
