East London, South Africa to host big doubleheader

Press release: In what might be the most costly and high-powered show staged at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa in many years, both Gabula "Tiger" Vabaza and Masibulele "Hawk" Makepula will be fighting for international titles on February 25, 2005.  Topping the bill is Branco Sports Productions' junior featherweight Vabaza (rated #14 by Boxingtalk), who challenges for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental title. Adding to the appeal is Makepula, another household favourite in the Eastern Cape who has a tilt at the WBC International super flyweight title.  Vabaza (19-0-1) will be facing former WBC International and Fillipino champion Roger Galicia (23-4-2).  Makepula (Boxingtalk #7 at 112) will trade leather with former Fillipino national champion Rolly Lunas, who has only suffrered four losses in 22 fights. Vabaza has just returned from a six-month suspension but his East London outing on Feb 25 will be his fourth fight in just 12 months. The undercard will feature BSP's new middleweight prospect Kgotso Motau, a former Olympian, who won both his opening two professional bouts.
