Early win for Sam Peter in Las Vegas

While Telemundo was showing one of the best fights of the year, a world championship bout from Panama City, ESPN was in Las Vegas showing a mismatch between a heavyweight and a junior middleweight. Still, the heavyweight, exciting Sam Peter did exactly what a top contender should do: he sent Gilbert Martinez home early. Peter knocked Martinez, who started his career in the 154-pound category, to the canvas in the third round and followed up with a barrage of power punches that caused referee Richard Steele to stop the fight just as Martinez's corner was about to throw in the towel.  Peter, Boxingtalk's #10 heavyweight, improves to 23-0 and will now look for a top 20 type opponent for a possible Showtime date this summer. source: Friday Night Fights on ESPN2
