Early results from Atlantic City

Malik Scott W8 Marcus McGee... Malik Scott boxed his way to a unanimous decision over Marcus McGee in the final bout before the main event in Atlantic City.  The fight was dreadfully boring and the crowd booed almost every single round.  The scores were 80-72 all the way around in another winning performance for the undefeated heavyweight. Scott landed some power shots in the sixth and seventh rounds but never attempted to score a knockout.

Giovanni Lorenzo TKO6 Byron Mackie... Although Byron Mackie, 27-12 (10 KOs), seemed to wobble Lorenzo in the second round, Lorenzo began to turn up the heat in the fourth, easily outboxing the game Canadian.  In the sixth round, Lorenzo began unloading the power punches.  Mackie took significant punishment laying against the ropes and then was lured into the center of the ring where Lorenzo landed a huge right hand high on the head that floored Mackie.  Mackie struggled to rise but his corner threw in the towel.  Giovanni Lorenzo, fighting the first ten rounder of his career, is now 21-0 (13 KOs) and looking for bigger fights.  It has been rumored that Lorenzo, a 2000 Olympian could land the winner of Kassim Ouma-Sechew Powell or even Jermain Taylor.

Mariusz Cendrowski W8 Patrick Thompson:
Mariusz Cendrowski, 15-0 (6 KOs), squeezed out a tough majority decision over Patrick Thompson, 10-6-1 (4 KOs).  Although it looked as if Thompson landed the bigger shots, Cendrowski was able to outwork Thompson.  The scorecards were  77-75 (twice) and 76-76.

James Moore W6 Jorge Gonzales... James Moore, 8-0 (6), battered the game Jorge Gonzales, 4-0, by winning every round en route to a tough fought, unanimous decision.  Gonzales was huffing and puffing in the second round and Moore capitalized with great body work, combinations and power shots.  Gonzales was in the fight, always swinging big shots but fell short of convincingly winning any round.  It was an impressive and solid performance by Moore.

Henry Crawford W6 Roberto Valenzuela... Henry Crawford, 11-0-1 (3 KOs), boxed his way to a unanimous Decision against Roberto Valenzuela, 17-24-2 (16 KOs).  It was a boring, lopsided decision as Crawford clearly outboxed the overmatched Valenzuela.

Alex Perez TKO4 David Hernandez... Alex Perez (6-0) stopped David Hernandez (3-4-2) at 2:45 of the fourth round of a welterweight bout. source for last result only: associated press
