ESPN2 comes to Philly on August 2

Press Release: Philadelphia junior middleweight Jose “El Macho” Medina will box Clarence “Sonny Bono” Taylor, of Wilmington, DE, in the eight-round semifinal on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at the New Alhambra, located at Swanson & Ritner Streets in South Philadelphia. ESPN2 will televise the card, headlined by a featherweight bout between regional champion Rogers Mtagwa and challenger Alvin Brown.  Light heavyweights Chuckie Cavallo and Michael Eatmon meet in a six-round contest, which will be part of the telecast. Medina, 30, is coming off the finest performance of his career, an eight-round split decision win over Marcos Primera.  Medina knocked Primera down in the fourth round to improve his record to 13-6 with 10 knockouts. Taylor, 34, has a 10-9-2 record with 5 KOs.
