Duva Prospects Moving Forward

Looking back at an outstanding Saturday night that saw several of his stable’s hot young prospects score victories, promoter Dino Duva says he’s very excited about the way things progressed. “In addition to Sam Peter further asserting himself as the future of the heavyweight division, we had three other kids who looked great that night. Oscar Diaz turned in another exciting, fan-friendly performance and came away with a win.”

Junior welterweight Diaz, 21-1 (11), scored an eight-round unanimous decision over tough Arturo Urena on the undercard of the Duva Boxing-promoted Peter vs. Sykes Triple Title Fight at the Events Center in Reno, Nevada. “Oscar is establishing himself as the kind of contender that television loves. A warrior with remarkable skill and tremendous heart that always gives the fans their money’s worth.”

“Next Generation” Duva Boxing prospects Michael Marrone and Raymond Biggs Jr., also won their fights in impressive fashion.

19-year-old heavyweight prodigy Marrone was sensational in making Detroit’s Forrest Neal quit on his stool after three one-sidedly brutal rounds. The young Floridian is moving quickly up the ladder since turning professional in March of last year. He is now 10-0 (9).

Meanwhile, Biggs Jr., now 3-0 (3), wowed the Reno audience with his slick boxing skills and formidable punching power while overwhelming Simon Ruvalcaba via TKO 3. The speed and veteran-like intelligence of the 23-year-old Jersey native have insiders predicting big things to come.

Overall, Duva says that things couldn’t have gone better for his fighters or his company. “The people at the Events Center and everyone else we worked with in Reno were fantastic, the crowd was enthusiastic and loud; all our guys were great. I’m extremely happy with the way it all turned out and with the outlook for the future
