Duva: Maskaev must fight Peter-Toney II winner

Dino Duva had this to say after reading Oleg Maskaev promoter Dennis Rappaport's remarks on Boxingtalk.com, "I want to congratulate Oleg for his victory over Peter Ohkello last weekend, but the only thing he should be thinking about right now is coming down to the Hardrock Casino in Hollywood, Florida on January to watch the fight between Samuel Peter and James Toney because he's going to have to fight the winner of that fight or give up his WBC belt. The WBC has made it very, very clear that Oleg Maskaev would be allowed one defense, which is what happened with Peter Ohkello. After that he has to fight the winner of Peter-Toney or lose his belt. He must fight the winner of this great fight on January 6. Sam Peter and James Toney and have been fighting their hearts out aginst each other and it would be a shame for the champion to look anywhere else. They're asking for unification and that sounds great, but the WBC has made their decision clear. It's no promoter or manager's fault that there are four different titles. oleg Maskaev got his title by a WBC mandate and now he's going to have to honor one. If you're going to following the organization's rules you have to follow them all of the time. Unification sounds great, but as long as there are four organization and each one has their own mandatory it's going to be tough for anyone to dance around. The winner of Peter-Toney II will have earned their shot and they will get their shot and that's the way it's got to be."
