Drews journeys down under for title defense

Press Release: Light heavyweight contender Danny Green looks for a return to world glory on Sunday, December 16, 2007 when the 34 year old slugger challenges WBA titlist Stipe Drews in Perth, Australia. Green, 24-3, comes into the clash holding victories over the likes of Eric Lucas, Otis Griffin and Kirino Garcia as well as having battered Markus Beyer into submission in Germany, only to be disqualified afterward. However, he dropped a twelve-round unanimous decision to super middle world champion Anthony Mundine last year. At 6 foot 5, Drews, 32-1, will hold a fou- inch height advantage over Green and has put together a six fight win streak since losing to Australia's Paul Briggs in 2004. Twice the European champion, Drews annexed the WBA crown in his most recent outing by putting on a superb performance against the still dangerous old Italian master, Silvio Branco, sweeping the scorecards in Germany this past April. On the undercard at Challenge Stadium, Commonwealth featherweight king Jackson Asiku, 21-3, puts his 10 bout run of victories at risk against challenger Matt Powell, 10-3-2, and red hot 20 year old super feather prospect William Kickett, 7-0, steps way up in class to face two time world featherweight title challenger Tommy Browne, 23-4-1, who has only lost to world champions Chris John and Injin Chi over the last four years.
