Don King Secures April 2 Showtime Date!

Braithewaite-Mormeck

A couple of weeks ago, promoter Cedric Kushner informed Boxingtalk.com that he had secured the April 2, Showtime date. Kushner planned to showcase Jameel McCline-Sergei Lyakhovich and Mike Anchondo-Jorge Barrios. Since then Boxingtalk.com had been hearing rumblings that Showtime wasn't too keen on approving the show, because they felt that McCline-Lyakhovich wasn't a strong enough main event, and they weren't too thrilled about the co-feature either. Apparently the rumblings are accurate because last night DKP informed Boxingtalk.com that it has secured the April 2 date to feature the eagerly anticipated cruiserweight unification bout between WBC champion Wayne Braithewaite and WBA champion Jean Marc Mormeck. Showtime suits Jay Larkin and Ken Hirshman were unavailable for immediate comment. In other news DKP's March 12 HBO date is apparently headed to Memphis, Chicago or Boston. Boxingtalk.com will continue to keep you updated, until then, Remember Where You Heard It First! (12:30 AM ET)
