Following another highly successful show at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, Maryland, promoter Scott Wagner and matchmaker Chris Middendorf are back to work preparing for the next Ballroom Boxing show on March 10, 2005.  After featuring the professional debut of U.S. Olympic bronze medalist Andre Dirrell on their last show, Middendorf has informed Boxingtalk that both Dirrell and his brother, super middleweight Anthony Dirrell, will be featured on the March 10 card. The success of this series can be largely attributed to Wagner’s obsession for making evenly matched fights. With no promotional ties to the boxers themselves, the goal is to avoid subjecting fans to glorified sparring sessions between house fighters and unevenly matched opponents. Instead, Wagner and Middendorf are committed to bringing fans the best match-ups possible. This approach, combined with occasional shows featuring headliners like Hasim Rahman, has created one of the most successful boxing series on the East Coast.
