Dillian Whyte coming back this weekend in Ireland

Former heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte (29-3) is set to make his return to the ring [this weekend after PED difficulties] against Christian Hammer (27-10). This match-up is scheduled as part of a boxing event dubbed “Once Upon A Time In The West,” on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17th, at the TF Royal Castlebar, in County Mayo, Ireland. Platform Sport will promote the show, which also features Castlebar’s own Ray Moylette (13-2) stepping into the ring for one last fight, marking the end of his career as a professional boxer and former amateur European and world gold medallist. Moylette, a junior welterweight, faces Jake Tinklin (11-2) of Wales.

Whyte will fight for the first time since late 2022. Hammer has also been inactive since a 2022 loss to Joe Joyce. Speaking to Sky Sports, Whyte expressed his excitement about his return, “I’m just glad to be back, doing what I love doing. I’m not getting any younger,” he stated. “I still want to fight all of these guys and show that I’m still one of the best heavyweights around.“

Moylette, a former world amateur junior gold medallist is delighted to have Whyte on the card and said it will bring worldwide attention to the Castlebar venue. Moylette commented; “The TF will be on everyone’s lips on St Patrick’s night. The boxing world will be tuned in to see the action and the atmosphere and I know the Mayo and Irish boxing fans will create a noise and an energy like no other.
