Diego Morales By Decision in San Jose

Diego Morales, Boxingtalk's #9 bantamweight, controlled a featherweight bout against Alberto Ontiveros at the HP Pavillion in San Jose on Thursday.  Morales was a more experienced and skillful fighter while Ontiveros was game but overmatched. Neither fighter was close to being hurt throughout the fight. Still, there were plenty of exciting exchanges throughout. At times, Morales seemed to land at will. Morales took few chances throughout the ten rounds and skated to a unanimous decision, 100-90 on all three cards.

This is what the crowd came for. First round started off with Morales dominating. Not much changed all the way through round 10. Morales controlled the fight as he was a more experienced and skillful fighter. Ontiveros was game, however he was simply overmatched by the better and more skillful boxer in Morales. Neither fighter was close to being hurt throughout the fight. Still, there were plenty of exciting exchanges throughout. At times, Diego seemed to land at will. However, never seemed to have seriously hurt Ontiveros. Morales took few chances throughout the 10 rounds and skated to a unanimous, lopsided decision; 100 - 90.

In undercard action, Arturo Quintero squeaks out a majority decision over Pedro Mora.

Ricardo Barajas TKO6 Carlos Cisneros (Ricardo Barajas 23-4-1; Carlos Cisneros 5-9-1)
Barajas knocked Cisnerof down twice in the sixth and final round, causing the ref to call a halt in the bout with 42 seconds left.

Joe Bradley TKO1 Guadalupe Acosta (Joe Bradley 3-6; Guadalupe Acosta 2-1)
Acosta knocked Bradley down twice and bloodied him before the referee called a halt to the contest at the end of round 1, at the advice of the fight doctor.

Santiago Rodriguez KO4 Rene Auguaristi (Santiago Rodrigue 0-0; Rene Auguaristi 0-0)
Rene Auguaristi wins his pro debut via a devastating knockout from a right uppercut at the two minute mark of round 4.
