Diaz eager to face Casamayor for title!

Speaking from his living room while watching the undefeated Chicago Bears trouncing of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon, WBC Interim Lightweight Champion discussed Saturday night's championship bout between Joel Casamayor and Diego Corrales from the Mandalay Bay Casino and Resort in Las Vegas.

"I congratulate Joel on his win over Diego, they both fought well and it was a very close fight. Joel now has the WBC Lightweight belt and I'm ready to fight him."

"I've been back in the gym now for a few weeks and as soon as we set a date I'll dial it up." Speaking about a fight with Casamayor, Diaz continued, "I'd love to do it here in Chicago, the Sox last year, the Bulls for six years in the 90's, maybe the Bears this year. It's the city of champions."

"Last night there were almost 14,000 at the Allstate Arena for the HBO show and last year there were massive crowds for Fernando's fight and the two cards at the United Center with the heavyweight title fights."

"We should definitely do the fight here, this is truly a fight town. Joel would feel at home in Chicago also, there's a big Cuban population here and fantastic Cuban restaurants."

With that, Diaz was back to the Bears game, "Look, they just scored again, Grossman threw another touchdown pass. It's 27-0 and they're not even at the half."

David Diaz won the WBC Interim Lightweight Championship with a 10th round TKO over Jose Armando Santa Cruz on August 20, 2006 at the Thomas and Mack Centerin Las Vegas, NV.
