PRESS RELEASE: It was a successful night all around all around on Saturday for DiBella Entertainment and KO Entertainment as they presented “Noche de Campeones” LIVE on pay-per-view originating from the Auditorio Centenario in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico.  “I want to congratulate Cristian Mijares on his hard fought victory over Alexander Munoz in what was an outstanding fight,” said DiBella Entertainment President Lou DiBella.  “I also want to give kudos to Nacho Huizar, Antonio Losado, and the rest of KO Entertainment who hosted a great event in Mexico.  I am proud to be their partner.”

 

Mijares (35-3-2, 14 KO’s) defeated Alexander Munoz in the main event of the evening, earning a 12-round split decision victory to capture Munoz’s WBA title and become the recognized unified champion in the super flyweight division. 

 

“Cristian Mijares is the best super flyweight in the world,” said DiBella.  “He proved it Saturday and he will continue to impress the boxing world with his sheer toughness, quickness and skill in the ring.  Cristian is also one of the most likeable people outside of the ring and carries a tremendous fan base popularity throughout the world.  He is destined to do great things not just in the fight game, but in the sports and entertainment industry as well.”

 

Mijares is a ten-year pro and is looking to showcase his talent in America.  He has fought just twice in America, in 2007 and 2008, both were victories.  “Mijares is looking to come and take over the American boxing scene,” said DiBella.  “I believe he has the talent and personality to do it.  I look forward to working with Nacho, Antonio, and the rest of KO Entertainment in helping Cristian to continue his rise among the top ten pound for pound fighters in the world.”
