Hopkins loses appeal, must pay DiBella $610,000!
Undisputed middleweight champion Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins suffered another legal loss to Lou DiBella in a New York City court today. A three judge panel voted 3-0 to affirm the $610,000 libel verdict in favor of DiBella against Bernard Hopkins. "The court found ample evidence for the jury to conclude that Bernard Hopkins lied, that he knew he had lied, and that he had acted with a malicious intent to harm Lou DiBella," said DiBella's attorney Judd Burstein, who added, "In addition they found that certain of Hopkins arguements on appeal were forfeited by mistakes made by his attorney's. In particular, the court found that Hopkins had lost his chance to challenge the $500,000 amount of punitive damages because his lawyers failed to raise the issue properly in the district court." Neither Hopkins, nor his attorney Arnold Joseph were available for immediate comment. Remember where you heard it first! (6:00 PM ET)
