Devon Alexander: The Great Goes From Prospect To Contender

GL:  Congratulations, give us your thoughts on your performance tonight? "I give myself a C-.  I should have done better while I was in there.  It was okay."

GL:  It was okay!  You just pitched a shutout against a former world champion.  If you gave yourself a C-, what do you think you should have done better?

Devon Alexander:  I should have paced myself more.  If I had paced myself more, I would have had less injuries than I got playing around.  I thought I did okay.  I got the victory, and now I'm going to move on to the next one, baby.  I'm going to get better, it was an experience.

GL:  Were you dissapointed that you didn't get the knockout, because it seems that you were looking for it?

DA:  I don't go into fights thinking I can knock him out.  I think that Ray knows better than most???

GL:  In the 4th round it looked like you had him hurt, but...

DA:  I had him hurt in the 5th round my hand started to hurt.

GL:  It's hurt?  How is it hurt?

DA:  My knuckle is kind of swollen now, it's okay.

GL:  Where do you go from here?

DA:  I'm going to the next one.  The next one, I think, is going to be in the Lou'.

GL:  When can we expect you back in the ring?

DA:  April 27th, baby.

GL:  Now that you've got a former world champion, like Corley out of the way where do you go from here?

DA: You know me G, I'll fight anybody my trainer and promoter put in front of me. I'm ready to fight anybody and as long as I train hard and listen to my coach I don't got nothig to worry about."

GL: Closing thoughts?

DA: "I want to thank Boxingtalk for always keeping me on from day one, I hope everyone enjoyed my performance, I promise they will only get better and better.
