Demtetrius Hopkins, Rock Allen post wins in AC

Demetrius Hopkins W10 Enrique Colin... On the Atlantic City, New Jersey undercard,  light welterweight contender Demetrius Hopkins easily won the first two rounds with his straight right hand.  He picked up the pace with more combinations starting in the third, but Colin took advantage while Hopkins was against the ropes in round four.  In the sixth, both fighters unloaded bombs with Colin on the losing end.  In the seventh, Hopkins (28-0) opened with sizzling power shots combinations but Colin still pressed firward after being lit up.  At times, it was astonishing that Colin (23-4-3) remained standing but he was willing to take the punishment and counter.  The official scorecards read 99-91 and 100-90 (twice).  Boxingtalk had the fight scored 99-91.

Rock Allen W8 Braulio Lopez.. .All three judges had the Rock Allen an 80-72 winner over Braulio Lopez. The first round of the junior welterweight bout started slow but Allen pressed the action, moving forward and landing lead right hands. The second round featured more action. Allen continued to press and Lopez countered effectively, but Allen’s combinations were beginning to overwhelm Lopez (6-6-1).  Allen picked up the action at the end of round 5 and easily won the sixth and seventh rounds.  In the eigth, Lopez threw big shots, knowing he was behind the 2004 Olympian.  Allen landed a barrage in the last fifteen seconds which stunned Lopez.  It was a good win for Allen (12-0) who has been brought along very slowly but seems ready to step up in class.  Â
