“Free at last, thank God almighty I’m free at last”
Boxingtalk.com has learned that Undefeated Jr. Welterweight Prospect Demetrius Hopkins 16-0(6) will be joining his uncle, undisputed middleweight king Bernard Hopkins as the newest member of the Golden Boy Promotions family. And it looks like they aren’t wasting any time keeping him busy as his first bout under the Golden Boy Banner will take place February 19th against an opponent to be named, on the undercard of his uncle’s record breaking 20th title defense against Howard Eastman. Once Boxingtalk.com caught wind of the news we contacted Demetrius to get his thoughts on no longer working with his now former promoter Dino Duva (Duva Boxing). He shouted “Free at last, thank God almighty I’m free at last” and stated that he is extremely excited to be a part of the Golden Boy Family alongside his Uncle. Stay tuned as Boxingtalk.com will be speaking with the younger Hopkins in length shortly.
