December 5: The Rebirth of The Iron Horse

GL: Can you give us some thoughts on your upcoming fight with Terrence Cauthen? "I'm here G and I feel good about this fight. I'm here getting my big chance to shine and I'm ready to put on a good show for all of the people in attendance at the Hard Rock Cafe on December 5."

GL: What do you know about Cauthen?

Sechew Powell: "I know that he's an experienced fighter that has a tremendous amatuer background. I also know that's a wiry, holding, running, just the worst kind of fighter you want to get in the ring with, but I'll be prepared for that on December 5."

GL: This fight will be an eliminator for the IBF's number one ranking. What does a victory over Cauthen mean to you?

SP: "It means the world to me. Here I am about to get the opportunity I've been looking for my whole career and these good people have provided it for me. Bad Dog Promotions, Henry Foster and Leon Margules and Seminole Warriors Boxing. I'm just here to put on a show and make believers out of dreamers."

GL: Is this fight going the distance?

SP: "I don't plan on it going the distance. I'll be looking to finish the fight, but with his style who knows what can happen? The game plan is to win round by round. We're looking to put each round in the bag. He's got a very frustrating style so it's going to be very important to stay focused and not get frustrated. Each round is a new fight and that's the approach we're taking in this fight."

GL: The winner of this fight will fight the winner of Spinks-Phillips. Who do you like in that fight?

SP: "It's two talented guys. I think Phillips is the more brute of a fighter, but Spinks is the younger, swifter, more skilled fighter. The fight could go either way, but whoever wins I'll be more than happy to meet them in the ring after I win on December 5."

GL: The winner of Spinks-Phillips will have up to another nine months to face you. Will you look to stay busy during that time if they decide to make you wait your turn?

SP: "If that's the situation we're in Greg, and we're in the waiting game, we will stay busy to stay in the game. It's all about getting that title and I'm telling the fans, I'm trying to become a top name in boxing and I'm trying to be a celebrity in this sport so that's the approach I'm taking, I'm looking to impress these guys every time out. People know I can fight. Have I shown the best I can do? Probably not, but that's about to change starting on December 5."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

SP: "I just want to say thank you to you Greg Leon and everyone at Boxingtalk for staying in touch with the kid. Everyone needs to come out to the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, Florida for a spectacular night of fights on December 5, it's the rebirth of the Iron Horse."
