Super featherweight Dean “Pit Bull” White scored an eight-round unanimous decision over Mike “Little Rock” Ricasa, in the main event of another action packed Baltimore Pro Boxing card from promoter Jake Smith, Thursday night at Martin’s West in Woodlawn, Maryland. White (13-4, 6 KOs), who fights out of Frederick, Maryland, used superior movement, ring generalship, and accurate power combinations from his southpaw stance, to avenge a close majority decision loss to Ricasa last October.  Judges John Gradowski and Malik Waleed both scored the bout 77-74, while Bill Holmes had it 78-73. 

White appeared to drop Ricasa at the end of round seven with a vicious body shot, however referee Kenny Chavalier ruled a slip.  White seized the opportunity and dug a series of hard body shots that sent Ricasa to the canvas again.  This time, Chavalier scored the knockdown, and Ricasa rose to his feet as the bell sounded.

Ricasa (6-2, 2 KOs), from Ellicott City, Maryland, started off strong but seemed to tire down the stretch in his first eight-round fight.  A physical specimen at 40 years of age, father time seemed to finally catch up with Ricasa as White turned up the heat in the middle rounds, and wore the Little Rock down with a vicious body attack.

In the co-feature, Baltimore heavyweight Adam “Boom Boom” Bloom (3-0, 2 KOs) remained undefeated with an entertaining four-round split decision victory over the game “Irish” Glen Williams (2-2, 2 KOs) of Tampa, Florida.  Williams survived an early Bloom onslaught to comeback and make a competitive fight with the Baltimore prospect.  With the fight seemingly in the balance in the fourth and final round, the two men stood toe to toe exchanging power shots to the delight of the packed crowd.  Official scores were 39-37 twice for Bloom, and 39-37 for Williams.  Boxingtalk.com scored the fight a draw 38-38.

On the undercard, junior middleweight Jessie “the Beast” Nicklow (2-0, 1 KO), scored an impressive first round TKO over William Armstead (2-3, 1 KO) of Dayton, Ohio.  Nicklow, fighting out of Pasadena, Maryland, dropped Armstead four times in the opening frame, before the referee waived a halt to the action.  Baltimore light heavyweight Willie Williams scored a first round TKO over Jay Holland (1-12) of New Castle, Pennsylvania.  The fight was Williams’ professional debut.

In the first professional bout of the night, super middleweight Nick “Flash” Collins (2-0, 2 KOs) of Bel Air, Maryland scored a third round TKO over Philadelphia’s Charles “Mack” Horn (1-4).

The night began with three amateur bouts featuring fighters from the Brooklyn [Maryland] Boxing club and Smith’s Baltimore Boxing Gym.  In a 141 pound match, Kisou Kusuzaka of the Brooklyn club won a decision over Baltimore’s Joe Catlin.  Brooklyn’s Sammy Fiataugalea won a close, entertaining decision over Elias Bouloubasses of Baltimore Boxing, in a 178 pound contest.  The final amateur fight of the night featured a pair of heavyweights.  Baltimore Boxing’s Steve Wheeler avenged his club’s earlier defeats with an impressive second round TKO over Nelson Diez.

A number of local celebrities and fighters were in attendance among the sold out crowd, including local heavyweight Mike Dietrich.  Dietrich, who is trained by Kevin Rooney, had a promising heavyweight career put on hold when he was violently attacked and stabbed numerous times in December.  Jake Smith and Mickey Cuchiella will be holding a fundraiser for Dietrich on March 1, 2006 at the Baltimore Comedy Factory in Baltimore.
