DeGuardia promoting Nate Campbell!

PRESS RELEASE: Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing proudly announces they will be working with rejuvenated lightweight contender Nate “The Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell, in association with One Punch Productions. “I will be promoting Nate Campbell’s upcoming bouts,” confirms Star Boxing President Joe DeGuardia. “He’s proven himself one of the world’s best 135-lb fighters and we’re looking for a big fight for him.”

In his last fight, Campbell breathed new air into his career by rising in weight and dominating red-hot prospect Kid Diamond on the undercard of the DeGuardia-promoted Tarver vs. Jones 3 event, October 1 in Tampa, Florida.

“Talk about announcing your arrival at a new weight,” said DeGuardia. “Nate Campbell dominated, dropped and stopped a guy being touted as the next superstar.  Kid Diamond held Joel Casamayor to a draw and could have easily gotten the decision and Nate just totally took him apart. We’re excited about his chances of winning the world title, now that he’s carrying his full power into fights again. Nate is clearly more dangerous at 135 lbs.”

In other news, DeGuardia says he’s added two more young and promising prospects to his promotional roster. Undefeated super welterweight Hervey Medina, 4-0-1 (1 KO) and undefeated heavyweight Malachy Farrell, 11-0 (9 KOs), will now fight under the Star Boxing banner.

“I’ve been putting him in my local cards and he’s impressed me, so I took him on board,” explains DeGuardia of his decision to ink Medina. “Hervey is a tall, skilled southpaw who is very talented. He’s one of the rare four-round fighters that I will sign. I look for something special in four or six round fighters and he’s one of the few that I’ve located that I think can really step it up and become something. He’s a real fighter and a good kid, easy to deal with, and doesn’t complain about whom he is going to fight. That’s a guy who really wants to get some place.”

According to DeGuardia, it was word of mouth that led him to Farrell. “I heard good things about him and I spoke to his manager Mike Joyce and we put together a deal. He’s a big heavyweight; he’s 6’ 4” and weighs 230 pounds. He’s also got good skills and could be a real force. To top it all off, he’s an enormous draw in his hometown Chicago and surrounding areas and has tremendous support from his Irish fans.”

DeGuardia says he’ll have both of his new fighters in action soon. "Farrell will be fighting on the FIST show we’re doing on Wednesday, October 26. Hervey Medina will be fighting on October 28 in Upstate New York.
