There are very few clashes which have enthused the British Fight Fans as much as the impending British Cruiserweight Title Fight which will take place between the Champion Mark Hobson (24-3-1) and Challenger David Haye (13-1). Indeed there has been a constant war of words between both camps for at least the last 12 months which has now intensified after David Haye withdrew from the proposed first clash which was due to take place in July. The fight has now been re-scheduled and will take place on Friday 14th October in Huddersfield, UK, where a capacity crowd of expectant fans will be drooling in anticipation of a bad tempered and explosive affair. Boxingtalk caught up with David Haye who is presently at his training camp in Miami USA. He was asked to respond to the various taunts from Team Hobson and in addition the various fans who are dubious whether he will even turn up to fight!!!
This is what he had to say: Spud: Hello David, Do you mind having a few words concerning the fight with Mark Hobson: first question has to be: is there going to be a fight or are you more bothered about the European Champion Alexander Gurov??
Haye: If given the option I would prefer to go straight into the fight with Gurov: he is the better man and a better fighter. Hobson is just a chump. To be perfectly honest the Hobson fight is nothing more than a glorified sparring session that will kick start my serious training for the Gurov fight Spud: You mention training, I have got what I consider serious money on you to win the fight with Hobson. Forgive me if I am a little concerned that you seem a little too relaxed about the proceedings with Mark Hobson?
Haye: Your money is safe. There is no need for me to go overboard on my training. Mark Hobson is a basic European style fighter who I will have no problems with. The hotel where I am staying has a wicked gym. I am fit now so I am merely ticking over. Spud: When do you get back to the UK?
Haye: I am coming back on the 21st: that is when I will start my real "punch" training. There is no need for you or anyone to panic as this fight is not going to be a long fight. I am going to turn up in Huddersfield knock Mark Hobson out and then I will have to start serious training for the Alexander Gurov fight. Spud: Fans have question marks about your stamina. Are you not concerned about this area?
Haye: Be serious will you: Mark Hobson is not good enough to test my stamina. If it wasn't for that horrible little trainer of his, the fans wouldn't even be talking about this fight, they probably wouldn't even know who Mark Hobson is if it wasn't for Aston sounding off.[/i]
Spud: David, Thank you for talking to me!!
Haye: no problems, your money is safe!!! I do not know why people are getting their hopes up about this fight, it is going to be an anti climax when I knock him out so quickly
