Darchinyan stops Sikali in first title defense

Compiled By Scott Shaffer

Vic Darchinyan made his first defense of the IBF flyweight title a succesful one by stopping Mzukisi Sikali in the eighth round in his adopted homeland of Australia.  Darchinyan, Boxingtalk's #4 flyweight, won the title in December, when he came to America to defeat Irene Pacheco. Sikali was rated #5 by Boxingtalk entering the bout. Immediately afterwards, the Armenian-born Darchinyan called out WBA titlist Lorenzo Parra for a unification bout.  On the undercard, Lovemore Ndou (Boxingtalk's #17 junior welter) knocked out Jesar Ancajas in the second round and Nedal Hussein (Boxingtalk's #27 junior lightweight) needed just thirty seconds to dispose of Tanzania's Obote Ameme.  source: Sydney Morning Herald
