Darchinyan stops Pacheco in eleventh

Vic Darchinyan is the new IBF flyweight champion after he handed Irene Pacheco his first career loss via eleventh round TKO in Hollywood, Florida. The outdoor fight was delayed for 10-15 minutes during the ninth round due to a nearby fireworks display.  Pacheco, 30-1, had three points taken away for low blows, but the fouls did not slow down Darchinyan.  Now 22-0, the Armenian Darchinyan joins Omar Narvaez and Jeff Lacy as the only 2000 Olympians to win world titles. Darchinyan entered the bout rated #9 by Boxingtalk, while Pacheco was ranked #3. On the undercard, Boxingtalk's #34 heavyweight Kendrick Releford W10 Garing Lane and Juan Urango KO2 Ubaldo Hernandez.   source: Florida Sun-Sentinel
