GL: Do you regret not taking the HBO date?AG: "No because that whole show got cancelled and all I wanted was a guarantee and they wouldn't give me one. They said if something happened or if Ward pulled out, I would be left without a fight. I fought where I knew there would be a fight. We heard that show was going to get scrapped. Things were in the wind and we were hearing things. We were hearing that Ward didn't want the fight and there was no guarantee that I would be on the show even if it went on." Greg, I usually don't like to respond to fighters regarding their back-and-forth rhetoric with other fighters, but in this case, since we were the ones who put this bout together with his promoter, the facts needed to be heard. First, the show WASN'T canceled. Paul Williams is fighting one week later on HBO. Two, if Green would have SIGNED the contract we sent them he would have been GUARANTEED the fight. Thirdly, not only did Ward AGREE to the fight, he INSISTED on it. In short, if Green had signed the agreement, he would have been fighting Andre Ward on February 9. Instead, he wasted two months of our time with nonsense about wanting to fight Andre Ward and believe me, he won't get the chance to do that again to us.
