Breadman,
What's good? I heard Freddie Roach say something during fight camp 360 that I have yet to hear anyone bring up and wanted to see how you felt about it. Freddie Roach said that Shane approached him "a few years back" about a fight with Manny and that he simply told Shane that at that time it was too high risk of a fight. Now, I'm gonna go ahead and guess that this took place after Shane stretched Margarito. For me, this doesn't sit too well for the simple fact that they flat out waited for Shane to get old and become a "low risk" opponent before fighting him. I'd like to know if you heard what I heard and how you feel about it.
More importantly though I want, no I feel I need to speak on something. I just read a piece online in which B Hop took yet another jab at Donovan McNabb. In a nuttshell, B Hop hit McNabb with the old "not black enough" and "house boy" tags. Bread, I am a black man first and foremost, and this shit irks me to no end. I have always been a fan of B Hop, but I am honestly disgusted by what he said. He questioned his toughness and said that McNabb isnt as tough as himself, Vick or T.O. Yes, the same T.O that cried on national television numerous times in post game interviews and seemingly in every episode of his reality show. Real tough guy. McNabb has taken as much if not more media scrutiny as any one of the guys that Hop named, and because he's taken it in stride, he's not black enough?! I'm sorry Bread but I can't mess with Hop on this one...Amac
Bread’s Response: You know living here in Philly I have seen the Hopkins/McNabb situation up close. It’s not a feud, because to me a feud is two way animosities. Hopkins is just delivering a one way beating. I just can’t understand it. I know McNabb irks some people with his weird humor and his not coming up big in certain games but dam, I think it’s a little much. I personally have never seen an athlete from another sport attack another athlete so viciously. I’m shocked the media has not made a bigger deal about this.
As far as McNabb not being black enough, people need to get off of that shit. McNabb can’t help it that he comes from a two parent household. Guys like McNabb and Grant Hill get targeted for that and it’s a shame. You can be BLACK and not grow up poor or in the hood. I grew up poor but so what, I never held it against my friends that had more than me. I hate to see this kind of stuff. There are some black athletes that deserve some social criticism. But all McNabb has done from what I can see, is not win the big game. Man o man. OMG bread your right Pac is right handed..this is crazy news to me. I thought Cotto was one of the few fighters who for example is a lefty fighting orthodox, And you got Ward and Witter as switch hitters...but Pac a righty standing softball? So does that mean he spent his whole career actually turning his left into a missle and he's always had a right hand but his southpaw stance hinders him from using it so much? Also he adjusted himself to fight southpaw well that means to me that Pac is way more technically sound than we all thought...So much for the one dimensional Pac we all hear about..I think in conclusion he turned his whole style into a multi dimensional offense...which in most boxing circles looks like one thing, a punching machine that goes one direction and one speed...fast forward...its time to give Pac credit for all the things we dont expect him to do....and its time to give Bread mad credit for observing something we probably have all would have never noticed for YEARS if he didnt notice it himself. The only thing is...couldnt you freakin say this after he whooped Mayweather?! lol Now all i have is these visions of that right hook that Pac landed on Ricky in the 1st round before he launched the missle to put him to sleep in the 2nd...! Dam you Bread Dam you!
Bread’s Response: Someone actually corrected me and told me just because Manny writes with his right hand does mean he is right handed. From what I have been, told some poor countries make left handed people write right handed. But I recently saw a pic of him batting right handed also. I also know he shoots a basketball left handed. Then I saw Manny box right handed. All I can say is sheesh. He has to be ambidextrous. You’re probably right should’ve kept this to myself lol. There may never be a fight now.
What's up Breadman! Longtime reader of your blogs...you do a great job with your analysis and objective opinions. I'll get right to it. 95% of the time I agree with you but on the Floyd standing up and being a hero and making the comparisons with Tom Brady etc.....I'm NOT with you on that one. While your intent is good, I think you missed the mark and the analogies were off base...apples to oranges. Football and baseball are team sports.....boxing is not. In your example with Brady, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, I feel the analogy isn't comparable nor is it realistic. Brady can't refuse to play in such a situation and even if he did the arbritrator wouldn't hear the case. We get caught up in Floyd's reasons for not fighting Manny but bottom line is he has the right to demand such tests. Now Manny can refuse, and everyone including the boxing fans would lose out but it's Floyd's right. We've all beat the drug testing issue to death...no need to re-hash. However, I believe Floyd has a point. If it's no big deal then Manny take the test! (no trying to sound like Roger here!) I refuse to believe Manny is standing on principle and refuses to give in to Floyd's demands as the reasons for him refusing to take the test...I think he has something to hide. As you mentioned the blood test could very well be a time biding excuse, but Manny could end all of that and agree to the tests. If Floyd really believes Manny is on something he shouldn't be forced to fight a guy he believes is on something. I'm a HUGE Floyd fan, I believe he's the best fighter in the game right now. I too am a little annoyed at his as well as Manny's antics about this fight. I hope this makes the mailbag....would love to hear your response. Side note: what's the latest on Winky? Any truth to the rumors he prices himself out of fights? For a man who spent the majority of his career (before he fought Shane) YEARNING for the big-time fights, for a man who changed his style (watch closely when Winky was avoided/feared because of his supreme defense...he abandoned that style for a more crowd pleasing come forward, less defensive style) in order to generate more crowd pleasing fights, it doesn't make sense to me that he would throw it away? Although not 50/50, $5M is better than $0 right?? Please shed some light. As always, you're the best hands down! Always appreciate your approach and professionalism.
Micah
USAF
Bread’s Response: Micah your comments are really professional, so therefore I usually post them. Sometimes I get 20 emails all pretty much saying the same thing so I just post the best one.
As for the Brady comparison. Why is it so off base? Brady can refuse to play. Playing a sport is a privilege he can refuse to play anytime he wants. The only thing you guys can come up with, is football is a team sport. But so what, there are still physical risk. Huge risk because of the speed and power of the athletes. There are many parallels between football and boxing. Instead of looking at the similarities you guys talk about whether or not it’s a team sport. Both are collision sports. Both sports have athletes who want to get stronger and more explosive so the athletes can inflict damage. Come on my man. Out of the 4 major sports in the US, football is the most similar to boxing in the violent aspect. You guys know that regardless of how many athletes in other sports who have got caught, that the media and fans alike would NOT accept an individual player pointing the finger at another individual player and refusing to play against him, unless he took the specific test he told him to take. Just think about that for a second.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his family members have publicly discredited Manny’s achievements, then AFTER discrediting him and accusing him of wrongdoing, they tell him take these test we want you to take. If you ask me, Manny is a fool for compromising. I would have told them to kiss my ass. You guys really seem to miss the point. I want stricter test in boxing. These commissions suck. I have been to states where they don’t even watch fighters hands get wrapped. It’s a very unsafe environment at times. But I don’t mix my baked beans with my apple sauce. The biggest fighter in the sport, would not allow another fighter to demand he do anything outside of the commissions regulations. More importantly boxing is more mental than anything. Why should Manny appease Floyd’s weak psyche and help him get over his fear of getting in the ring with a steroid/ped freak. If Floyd wants to believe that ,that’s on him? It’s a war you have to get every edge you can. If I was clean I still wouldn’t bend for this guy because Manny has Floyd mentally. And once you have a guy mentally you keep him in the dark, doubtful place. It’s really mind boggling to me, that you guys don’t understand this.
Most Floyd fans can’t comprehend these things. More importantly if Floyd wanted the fight so badly he could bring AWARENESS to PEDs in boxing in a brighter light. He could get on TV and talk to people like John McCain. Everyone would take his side, because of the rampant use of PEDs period. Floyd could turn this turn this thing upside down on Manny. Manny is a politician, he has advisors that would tell him how bad things looked. Floyd could exhaust ALL resources to have the biggest fight ever done the right way on a level playing field. So what if the NSAC refuses his petition. At least he tried, you can’t hit the lottery if you don’t play. Floyd would have a hell of a case and he would put that commission under the spotlight. The NSAC would not want to be bad guys and they have the power to implement stricter testing for individual events. Keith Kizer has openly said on more than one occasion, that nobody from Floyd’s camp has petitioned them. You guys just don’t dig it. Floyd and his camp don’t want to box Manny in. Because if the NSAC ruled in their favor, there would be NO more excuses. I can see the bullshit a mile away. Manny does not have to give because Floyd says so, Manny is the bigger star at this point. It’s not my opinion it’s a fact. Internationally it’s not close and here in the US he has surpassed him. Since when does the A side give in?
Instead of Floyd doing it the right way, he insults the man. Then he and his family throw around accusations that have been shot down from every angle. I don’t have to get into specifics. Everything from the weight issue, to Manny’s ko% after junior lightweight. Manny has went the distance 2 fights in a row, so his ko% will be another jealous poin that they won’t be able to make again. I hope I am clear on my stance, because blind allegiance is never good. I will end this on this note. I put myself out there for a reason. The reason is, I have integrity. If a commission orders Manny to take blood test and he suddenly refuses to fight Floyd, then I will assume he is DIRTY. But I will NOT assume a fighter is dirty, because his main rival tells him to do something that is above and beyond the standard rules. That may make Manny stubborn but NOT dirty. Bread
http://www.15rounds.com/video-nazim-richardson-051011/I pasted this video for you to review because Nazim says that "after others see this DVD they will see Pacquiao struggles with certain things". He also said guys will be lining up to fight him now that they see his struggles. Can you elaborate on what these certain things are?
I look forward to seeing the replay this weekend so I have not seen the fight, but from what I have read some are under the impression that Mosely turning Manny and pivoting/using footwork to create angles prevents Manny from running in and throwing 7 or 8 punch combinations. I would love your feedback on what Richardson may be speaking about. For those reading, Richardson praises Manny saying he is special and that when Manny hits you it changes cats..as he said. But just interested in your feedback.
Cornelius T.
Bread’s Response: I assume that Naazim means that he had Shane turning Manny really hard. I’m not sure and I wish Marc Abrams would have asked him directly what he meant by exposing Manny. Here is my thing. I think it’s rather easy for a guy to survive in a fight defensively when he is not trying to win. Had Shane fought that same style and put some serious hurt on Manny and lost a 115-113 decision I would open my eyes. But all I saw was an old but still athletic fighter, become FULLY conscience to not get knocked out and he didn’t. I saw Marco Antonio Barrera fight a similar fight against Manny in 2007….I look at the history of survivors. Hector Camacho lasted against Tito Trinidad and Julio Cesar Chavez fighting the same surviving type of fight. I am personally going to ask Naazim what exactly does he mean from a tactical point of view, then I can give a better answer. I hope that all is well Bread. Your open-letter that you wrote in respect to Mr. Mayweather was well-done & complete with what the hardcore boxing fans & casual fans of the sport want to see; also, you keyed in on some important avenues on the sport of boxing that seems to be declining in terms of fans traffic, supporting the sweet science. Yet, I have a solution that may seem so small that it might not matter. I think that we should just stop writing & talking about Mayweather taking on Manny. It appears to me that Mayweather knows all about attention & handles the public spotlight with ease. Therefore, he is completely aware that the more we talk about this fight, the more we will want it & the more he will decline it or find some outside of the ring antics or charisma to not fight Manny. The best way to dismantle those who seek attention is to ignore them or not jump over the bridge or cliff of hope when they make a hint that they might jump with us. I am not saying do not write about Mayweather, indeed he has put in the work to earn articles & interviews, but as outlandish as it may sound, we need to stop making an imaginary fight appear. From wanting drug tests not mandated by the boxing N.A.C. to doing a racist video talking about Manny back to making a line of discussions to solidify the fight, than pull away down without a clue to way back to his request of wanting a 100 million dollars check, what is the point(s)? Perhaps, if we let the Giant sleep, & make no sounds or play any music, he will awake on his own & not from our cheers of wanting to see real boxing.
Keep up the good writing.
Shaun, Harlem.
Bread’s Response: You are probably right Shaun. The problem is 80% of the comments I receive are about the Floyd/Manny fight. I purposely didn’t do a mailbag for 2 days and it didn’t matter. I owe it to you guys to put something out. Unfortunately this is what everybody wants. Brotha B,
I wanted to wait a few days so I could really digest what I saw Saturday night.
Playa, was I tuned into a PPV fight or a chick flick on "Lifetime?" I saw more
holding hands & hugging in the fight than in the whole movie "The Color
Purple". WTF? You were right, Shane Mosley aka "Sug Avery" conned Manny big
time. After getting drilled with that beautiful straight left (Manny set that
shot up good), I guess "Sug" said "fuck it". I guess he was there just for the
check afterall (note to Shane...it's cheaper to keep her!). The most exciting
part of the night is when his new girlfriend stood up & I saw what she was
packing. I said "Whoa!!!!" and my ole lady thought I was talking about the
fight!!
On a serious boxing note, Manny did a lot of reaching and lunging early in the
fight. I saw more than a few spots where Mosley could have been effective
but as the old saying goes, "Everybody has a plan until they get hit". Before
the fight, I thought it would be bad on Manny's part if he didn't finish him off
but I was assuming Shane would bring balls to the fight. Manny would have been
stupid had he done a caveman and just went wild. He did the best to make it a
fight so I have no issues with him not stopping Mosley. After his last 3
performances, I hope Mosley retires because I wouldn't dare watch him fight
again. I also hope this "Manny hasn't fought any brothers" BS is put to bed.
Being a world traveler, I realize an ass whipping can come in many forms. While
I love the slick boxer/puncher style of a Ray Leonard, that style isn't pattened
by brothers (see Salvador Sanchez) and more importantly, isn't unbeatable.
Like any great action fighter, there are flaws in Manny's game just like there
were in Henry Armstrong's but dude brings it EVERY time. He's had a 5-6 year
run like few others have. Great open letter you addressed to Floyd Mayweather
but to be honest, I don't even want to see Pacquiao vs. Mayweather anymore.
Manny, if he hasn't already, will start to erode & there's no telling where
Floyd is; mentally or physically. This fight should have happened last year &
the window for it being HISTORICALLY relevant is quickly closing.
Since both of our boxing hearts are still in the 80's, let's take a trip down
memory lane! It's August 1, 1981. Soon, Salvador Sanchez & Wilfredo Gomez are
getting it on. Next month, Ray Leonard & Thomas Hearns will duel in the
desert. My question to you? What does your top 12 P4P list look like on this
day? I hold you to a high standard pimpin so come detailed & accurate!
Bread’s Response: What’s up Sarge? Dam dog you really put me on the spot. My top 12 p4p list if this was August 1, 1981. Ok since we both remember the times here it is.
1. Tommy Hearns (the Leonard fight had not happened yet)
2. Ray Leonard
3. Wilfredo Gomes (the Sanchez fight had not happened yet)
4. Marvin Hagler
5. Alexis Arguello (He didn’t fight Pryor until 1982)
6. Larry Holmes
7. Salvador Sanchez
8. Matthew Saad Muhammad (his fight with Qawi didn’t happen until later that year)
9. Aaron Pryor
10. Jeff Chandler
11. Wilfred Benitez
12. Michael Spinks (he had just won his first title) Hey Bread,
First off, I want to say I am a fan. For a while I was turned off by Boxingtalk, but since you've come aboard, I check Boxingtalk daily to read your mailbags. I love your insight and break down of fights and fighters. You and Doug Fischer are the mailbags I look most forward to, due to your objectivity.
Now onto my point. I've never written to any mail bag but I am amazed at the articles and people saying the Pac is a one dimensional fighter who would get beat easily by Floyd. Floyd has one of the best defenses ever, I don't think anyone can dispute that, but was he badly hurt in the Mosley fight in both the 2nd and 12th rounds, as you pointed out. Besides those two rounds, he dominated every minute of every other round. Now Pac dominated Mosley as well, but at no point was he in any danger like Floyd was. How can people call Manny one dimensional? Although, his defense is not as good as Floyd's, he was hit less than Floyd was. I think that is an interesting point to make. He won every round. I scored the first round 10-10, due to the lack of action, and the knockdown in the 10th was a farce. To me, Pac won the fight easier than Floyd did. Floyd had to fight through some adversity, Manny did not. People praised Floyd after his victory, and are ridiculing Manny after his. I have my ideas why, but I want to hear your take on it.
Keep up the great work!
Kevin from NY
Bread’s Response: You are right Kevin. Manny beat Shane easier than Floyd did. There is not much debate to it. I don’t like comparing those guys like that, because they are different fighters. Manny is more dynamic offensively so most times he will beat up similar guys worst than Floyd would. It doesn’t make him better. But to your point, the fact remains the same. He won more convincley, he was able to knock Shane down, and he faced much less adversity, yet he gets ridiculed more.
My take on it is simple. Manny has raised the bar really high. He has to be spectacular everytime out or these forensic boxing experts will pick him apart. That coupled with a faction of Floyd fans out here who want to find fault in him and there you have it. I personally don’t think it was a masterful performance. Manny could have done better. It was dominant but not masterful. I give Manny a 7 out of 10 on that performance. But I blame Shane for the lack of excitement. He is 100% at fault for that. If Shane had shown up to win and not survive we would have saw a good fight, with Shane getting stopped. But it was more important for Shane to NOT get knocked out than to win. Oh well it happens. B man this stuff that the MMA is pulling is getting ridiculous putting there good fighters against worn boxers. I know that it takes two to tangle but dang I wish a boxer in their prime would stand up and call out a prime MMA fighter. Lacy has not won a meaningful fight in I don’t know how long and has shown that all he has is the left hook and if he can’t connect with that he is a sitting duck.
On another note that I know you probably won’t touch. Shane should know that his model chick is only there for the pub and money. It is a known fact Shane is a 39 year old former steroid user, ain’t nothing he can do with that. I’m sorry I am a more than secure with myself and my wife is bad for real but she know when she come to my place of employment she is expected to dress a certain way. When she jumped out of her seat at the fight as loud as the bar was you heard a unilateral DAAAAAMMMMNNNN!!!!! from every guy in the room. He allowed her to get to much publicity in the 360 series, see if he was smart he would have told her to sign a contract with him for all the calls she is going to get based off that series.
I think that these promoters do a wonderful job at duping the public and we fall victim to not fully trusting our own judgment. When this fight was first announced everyone knew that it was going to be a dud and Shane had no chance of winning but as they built the hype we fell victim again but I will say I loved the entrances by Sugar and Manny and that’s something they need to look into doing more of I’m sorry but as much money as these fights are costing now I want to see more of the Prince style entrances, make it a freakin show. What are your thoughts on the potential fight with Latimore vs Williams? How does it play out if it happens?
Bread’s Response: I have received a lot of emails about Shane’s girl. You guys know that we shouldn’t discuss a man’s woman and his religion. I don’t want get into any of the extras. All I will say is I’m happy for Shane that he seems happy. He has a beautiful woman and he has seemed to bounce back really well from his divorce. Good for him. Guys you have to lay off me with the comments about Shane’s girl……
Jeff Lacy is a shot fighter and I hate this fight. If Lacy loses MMA fans will go crazy. I will not even watch or talk about that anymore.
Paul Williams and DeAndre Latimore is a good fight. If Williams is Williams he should win. He is better than Latimore. But after the ko he suffered who knows. What is up, Top Dawg? Thank goodness, gone are the days when Jin Mosley did a mailbag. We’re a long way past that! What was G. Leon thinking? Anyway Breadman, like you speak the truth, Manny P. is the ultimate truth machine. He just turned one of the hall of fame warriors in the ring of our time into his child. Shane may not have had the highest boxing IQ, may not have made the right business decisions, but he always came to FIGHT. Couldn’t get off against Floyd, ok, but dang man, running for your life is another. He didn’t want to get hit against Floyd….he didn’t want to get KTFO against Manny. Big difference. Wanted to live another day to just go chill with that chica caliente he’s got. I continued to trip on how this smallish (in height) dynamo was just chasing down this taller “warrior” with the longer reach. Truth sport, only in boxing. We have witnessed several times with Manny how right in front of thousands of fans and millions watching, one man became the other one’s daddy right in front of our eyes (Clottey, and now Shane). As much as I hate to say it, Margarito’s getting his face bashed in is much more honorable than what I just witnessed. Man, right now, these are your choices against Manny like you stated…go toe to toe and get brutalized, or fold up in front of millions and survive. His power must be unreal. Remember his first knockdown of Cotto? He threw a right hook that glanced off Cotto’s left shoulder and still floored him. Did you catch James Brown’s diatribe at the end of the telecast? He sounded offended that Shane would even have the audacity to say one thing before the fight in the pre-fight meetings and then do another. Welcome to boxing, JB. Everyone has a plan and talks tough until they get cracked. Which brings up the question…do you recall recently where another fighter other than Tyson strikes this much fear (that transpires right before our eyes) in top opponents?
Dee in Htown
Bread’s Response: You know what, in Manny’s recent run Antonio Margarito has stood up the most. Many may not want to give Margarito his props but he deserves them. Margarito came to die against Manny. In recent times Manny is very intimidating but I think Vitali Klitschko may be the most intimidating fighter in boxing. Nobody seems to want to engage that guy. Did you see him yell at Olandier Solis after he stopped him? Vitali is a crazy man! Bread, few questions I wanted to run by you:
1.) This whole natural right-handed/fight southpaw (or vice-versa) concept is interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but beyond the guys mentioned in your recent bags like Manny, Pavlik and Zab, other top guys like Oscar, Winky and -- going a bit further back -- Michael Moorer all fall into this category, no?
2.) I know you respect my dude Dougie Fischer as a journalist/colleague. I'm curious what your thoughts are on his position that Pac has noticeably slowed down in his last two fights. Dougie, who obviously knows stuff, opined in his Monday mailbag that Manny's reflexes, etc have worsened in his recent fights. Do you agree? Care to elaborate? As supernatural as Pac is, he's 32 and has been fighting since he was a little kid. Assuming you agree with Dougie on at least some level, is Floyd a good enough student of the game to have noticed this, and might this tempt him into taking the fight? Oh wait, Floyd hasn't seen the fight because he was watching the Lady Gaga concert while being hand fed popcorn by Ellerbe.
3.) I know G Leon is probably the better recipient for this question, but do you have any insight/personal knowledge/general hunch as to the current state of Floyd's finances? In other words, is he really running out of/inevitably going to run out of his fortune as is almost-universally speculated by the fans and media? I'm only curious because this issue will obviously play an important role in whether the Manny fight actually goes down. I know G wrote a year or so back that Floyd got taken pretty bad on a business deal or two. Also, today in the local paper (Las Vegas Sun) there was an article about 85% of Vegas homes being "underwater." As such, the "Big Boy Mansion" is probably worth half (or much, much less) of what it once was. When you add in Floyd's mounting legal fees, am I crazy for thinking that within a year or two he might be fiscally FORCED into taking the fight to avoid Chapter 11?
On the other hand, I suppose Floyd could just cherry-pick some BS opponent (someone not as bad as Spaddy but not as good as say, Tim Bradley) for a cool $10 mil. That should buy him another two years of blatant ducking abilities.
You the man Bread! Kellerman might get to you in the 11th but you'd go out on your shield no doubt!
Best regards,
Joe in Las Vegas
Bread’s Response: Dougie Fischer is my man and he may have a point. I have said many times that Manny will start to slip soon. It’s so hard to tell from a fight like that. If you remember some people said Floyd slipped a little because Shane hurt him. If you twisted my arm I’m going to say Manny is 95% of the guy that beat Oscar and Cotto. But I will say he is like Kobe Bryant is right now. Kobe may not be the Kobe that scored 81 points, but he can turn it on when he needs too. Kobe is a different guy in the playoffs and the 4th quarter than he is during a normal game.
Did you notice how Manny flipped that switch in the 10th round after the bad knockdown call? He put Shane right in his place immediately. Shane knew Manny had that switch that’s why he didn’t open up because Manny turns into real life Pac Man with boxing gloves on. So I agree with Dougie but I don’t see a big a slip as he does.
Whappun Breadman & doveed
thanks for da mackie shilstone interviews they were sick
im a big time boxing fan and a fan of mackie too
it wouldve been interested to hear how he helped serena and how he couldve helped tyson (after 1st holyfield loss) if he was bought in as special forces.

Bread’s Response: Thanks Mark I appreciate the love. This mailbag has taken a life of its own. It feels great to get recognition. I have a short story. The other day I received an email from Doveed Linder. In the email he stated that Virgil Hunter, Andre Ward’s trainer wanted to speak to me. I called Mr. Hunter and he told me that he followed my mailbag and he recognized that I had the “eye”. That’s a boxing term for knowing what you are looking at and being able to break it down. That meant so much to me. I have a lot of respect for Virgil Hunter and I know he does a great job with Andre Ward. Allan Green complimented Ward after their fight. He told me that Ward is extremely polished and that you can see his trainer WATCHES everything he does. That’s a compliment to Hunter. Thanks again.
Your article is utterly ridiculous.
People die in that boxing ring. It happens all time. When was the last time someone died on the football field or in the baseball diamond? Hell, football players get to wear helmet and pads. They also get to call timeouts.
And perhaps you should pay closer attention to the drug testing policies in the NFL and the MLB – they are both a JOKE and everyone KNOWS it. PED usage is running ramped through BOTH leagues and it’s no secret. Of course NFL and MLB players don’t get punched in the head for 12 rounds. Do I need to remind you about Shane Mosley and the Balco situation? Shane NEVER failed a drug test – or have you forgotten?
Floyd’s request is PERFECTLY reasonable. If Pacquiao is clean then why not be an example, a role model and take the damn test? Seems to me like maybe Pacquiao is hiding something.
What is clear though is that Pacquiao’s recent opposition has been, at best, questionable.
Do yourself a favor, next to you want to write a boxing related article – don’t.
Bread’s Response: Next time you want to write me, do yourself a favor and don’t. If you KNEW better you would DO better. There have been so many fatal injuries in football over the last 5 years that manufactures have made a conscience effort to change the equipment for the better. You must not have a TV. This is happening at a rampant rate at all football levels. For anybody who thinks I am making this up to win an argument, simply google fatal football injuries. The numbers are so large, you can’t even get an accurate account because reports are so varied. Please stop it with your frivolous attempts.
Floyd test demands are reasonable, how he is going about it is not. In the NFL they don’t punch each other in their face for 12 rounds. They just run into each other at full speed and knock each other unconscious. They also get knocked out and are able to play a few weeks later. In boxing you get 30 days. Did I add that there are no weight divisions in football? So you can have a 300lb man hit a 180lb man on a regular basis. Football is just as violent as boxing, it’s just a different type of violence. Peace bro, I can expect this will the last time you write me.
