BREAKING NEWS: Japanese flyweight Daiki Kameda has been suspended for a year. Kameda, 10-1 with 7 KOs, was unsuccessful in his first title bid this past week when he was decisioned by WBC Flyweight champion Daisuke Naito, 32-2-2 with 20 KOs. Frustrated and outboxed in almost every round, Daiki picked Naito off of the ground and slammed him to the mat three separate times. Daiki was docked 3 points by the officials and disgraced by the Japanese public. The Japanese boxing commission subsequently came down hard on the young and hugely popular fighter and his father/trainer Shiro, who was suspended indefinitely for berating the referee. Daikis’ brother Koki, is a huge attraction in Japan and has garnered more that 60% of Japan’s TV ratings when he last fought. The Kameda's are the countries most watched (but not necessarily popular) athletes. Source: India TimesÂ
