D. Hopkins scores devastating knockout

Demetrius Hopkins KO9 Michael Warrick... Demetrius Hopkins struggled with comebacking Michael Warrick for eight plus rounds, but made up for it in a hurry with a spectacular and frightening one-punch knockout that instantly ended their junior welterweight bout in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Warrick, now 18-4, hadn’t fought since April of  2005 and hadn’t won since June of 2004, but he made a good account of himself until he got caught. Warrick appeared to injure his knee in the fifth round, but Hopkins was not able to capitalize on the advantage. Everything changed when Hopkins landed an explosive right in the ninth that rendered Warrick instantly unconscious. His reflex instinct momentarily gone, Warrick fell flat on his face and didn't move for a few seconds that seemed like an eternity. After a tense minute or two, he seemed okay, although a concussion was likely. It was a very close fight before the knockout. Hopkins improves to 24-0-1 and showed himself capable of beating a tough opponent even when not at his best. Source: ESPN2 Wednesday Night Fights
