Mirko “Cro Cop” Filopovic signs non-exclusive deal
2006 Pride Fighting Open Weight Grand Prix Champion Mikro Cro Cop will be leaving the UFC. According to a blog he wrote on the MMA community site MMA-ID he is heading to Japan. Filopovic wrote, "I'm off to Tokyo… I won't be retiring. I'll keep on fighting, it's my life, it's what I do." The lethal striker has struggled mightily in the UFC’s Octagon, dropping 2 of 3 bouts. It’s been speculated for months that he would be retiring but it appears that he is simply taking his game to another promotion. Mirko will be fightinf in the Dreams organization which is owned by the former Pride owners. The contract isn’t exclusive so he can fight in other organizations. They have several top HW’s signed already. The agreement made with UFC was that Cro Cop fights 3 fights. If he wins all 3 he has to return to UFC.
