Crazy Horse tamed by Joe Boxer

MMA report

It was a jam-packed house Saturday night at the Vicksburg Convention Center, in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Gary Shaw's Elite XC Challenger Series, televised by Showtime, entertained the capacity crowd from the first fight to the very last.  The main event of the evening was a rematch between Victor “Joe Boxer” Valenzuela and the rather over-dramatic Charles Crazy Horse Bennett.  Perhaps if Crazy Horse would have spent less energy “horse playing” and hamming it up for the cameras, and less energy dancing throughout his ring walk, the results for him may have been different.  During the referee's instructions Bennett stood with his back to his opponent looking at the cameras, in a blatant show of disrespect.  Valenzuela on the other hand, kept his composure and had redemption on his mind.

Their first match-up was a draw, but this was clearly Valenzuela's night.  The first round  started, and it almost seemed like it would be a repeat of the first fight between the two.  Valenzuela threw a  right hand that Bennett countered, and he ended up on his back with Bennett pouncing on him, throwing several right and left hands.  Valenzuela was able to fight his way to his feet, and the round continued.  Valenzuela regained control of the round, when he connected with a beautiful right hand that had Bennett looking for his legs.  Valenzuela gained back control on Bennett and threw a barrage of rights and lefts that Bennett had no answer for.  The cocky Crazy Horse tapped out due to strikes at 3:23 of the first round.

When Boxingtalk asked Gary Shaw if he was pleased with the turnout Saturday night he simply replied, “We'll be back that's for sure.”
