Cotto-Urkal headed to Puerto Rico!

Undefeated WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is expected to return to HBO on March 3, 2007 to make the mandatory defense of his title against Oktay Urkal in his Puerto Rican homecoming as a 147 pound champion. No official word on the co-feature as this goes to print. Showtime televised Cotto's title winning effort against Carlos Quintana last month and has the right to match HBO's offer, though it is doubtful they do so.  If Cotto's next fight takes place on HBO, expect his June return to Madison Square Garden-Bob Arum has previously told BT will take place against Antonio Margarito-to be aired on HBO PPV. Unless HBO  plans on airing two PPV's during the month of June, Fernando Vargas might have to wait an extra month or two to call it a career. Explosive middleweight contender Edison Miranda has also been rumored to make his Showtime Championship Boxing debut on March 3. There will be more to follow so stay tuned. (5:08 PM EST)
