Costly punch: Hopkins fined $200G

The Nevada Athletic Commission has fined world light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins $200,000 for throwing a punch at Winky Wright during the weigh-in for their recent pay-per-view fight in Las Vegas. The amount of the fine was calculated by taking 6% of the amount of Hopkins' purse reported to the Commission. According to the Associated Press, Commission Chairman Tony Alamo said, "In Nevada, no melees, no free-for-alls, no fighting should be taking place at a weigh-in. The only time there should be fighting going on is the night of the fight." Hopkins won the fight by unanimous decision. --Scott Shaffer
