Corrales-Castillo no longer a battle for lightweight supremacy!

According to the news agency Sports Ticker, Jose Luis Castillo failed to make the 135-pound lightweight limit for his world title fight against Diego Corrales. Castillo will be fined 10% of his $1.2 million purse, but it appears that the bout will go on as scheduled as a welterweight contest.  In an only-in-boxing moment, Castillo's doctor, Armando Barac, was caught red-handed, or more aptly, red-footed trying to cheat Castillo down to 135 by sliding his foot under the scale.  Castillo got three chances to make weight but ended up tipping the scale at 138.2. If he shows up for the fight over 147, as he has been known to do, he will be penalized an additional $75,000 per pound.  Castillo and Corrales fought one of the most memorable battles in boxing history earlier this year, with Corrales getting up from two tenth-round knockdowns to stop Castillo in the same round.
