Cook to face Luevano for vacant WBO feather belt

Press Release: Steven Luevano said he will "fight my fight" which will include counterpunching and "using my brain" to conquor unbeaten Nicky Cook in a vacant WBO featherweight title fight to be held at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, July 14, 2007. During a conference call today with London fight writers, Luevano said "Nicky is great fighter. He has a lot of movement and he likes to come straight at you. Luevano has a record of 32-1; Cook is 27-0. The title was declared vacant as the ex-holder, Juan Manuel Marquez is moving up to fight at 130 pounds. Luevano added "I am going into a hostile situation when I walk into that ring. I watched the Ricky Hatton fight and saw all of the fans rooting for him. Everyone will be against me but once it is just me and him I will focus on the fight, beat Nicky Cook and bring home the world title." Luevano's promoter, Bob Arum added, "all of us at Top Rank are very excited about this fight." Frank Warren is promoting the event in London.Â
