Contreras suffers seizures

Ruben Contreras, who quit in the sixth round against Brian Viloria on Saturday, had good reason to do so. According to the Associated Press, the Mexican flyweight suffered seizures shortly after the bout. He was later diagnosed with bleeding on the brain and was rushed to the hospital, where surgery was performed to relieve the pressure on Contreras' brain. Contreras' record is listed at 9-17-3 and he is said to be in critical condition. Boxingtalk adds it wishes to those hoping for Contreras' recovery.  UPDATE: The Associated Press  reports that Contreras is being kept in a medically induced coma to give the swelling in his brain a chance to subside. His life is still at risk, although the treating physician expressed hope that Contreras' brain has not been damaged.
