Clottey and Mechanic headline at Turning Stone!

DiBella Entertainment’s popular Broadway Boxing series will make its Turning Stone Hotel and Casino Event Center debut when the title and site sponsor hosts the Broadway Boxing “Friday Night Face Off” this Friday, October 21, 2005 in Verona, New York.  The action packed fight card features a pair of ten-round welterweight contests – Joshua Clottey vs. Marlon Thomas in the main event, and Chris “the Mechanic” Smith vs. Tomas Barrientes in the co-feature.

Clottey (27-1, 20 KOs), fighting out of the Bronx, New York, is a product of Accra, Ghana, which has produced the likes of boxing greats Azumah Nelson and Ike “Bazooka” Quartey.  Having been in with the likes of Vernon Forest and Antonio Diaz, Marlon Thomas (32-5-1, 21 KOs), a Detroit, Michigan veteran, figures to provide a stiff challenge for the once-beaten Clottey, a welterweight contender.

In the co-feature, Chris “the Mechanic” Smith (19-2-1, 12 KOs) looks to rebound from two consecutive losses to David Estrada and Sharmba Mitchell.  Smith’s opponent, Tomas Barrientes (27-8, 17 KOs) holds a recent win over Emanuel Augustus, but is coming off a majority decision loss to journeyman Rogelio Castaneda.
