Chisora thanks the fans in Manchester

Derek Chisora thanked his fans after Saturday's lovefest in which the 41 year-old was celebrated for turning back the clock in a win over Otto Wallin. Chisora said, "Manchester you were unbelievable. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. It meant so much to me. I love you all. Fight 49 I will never forget. I’m still buzzing from it. This game of ups and downs, I am enjoying it all. I’ll never get bored of entertaining the British public. I bring it all in for you guys and I am so grateful you let me put on a show for you."

In his 49th pro fight, Chisora found the fountain of youth, outboxing and punishing the younger Wallin, over twelve rounds. It was an entertaining and emotional night for the 41 year-old Chisora, who has been written off many times. En route to a wide unanimous decision, Chisora knocked Wallin (27-3) down twice. The first knockdown, in round nine, was one for the highlight reel as Wallin got caught with an overhand shot and took five steps back before falling down. The second knockdown cae just before the final bell. Wallin never showed any urgency to win, despite being implored to fight more aggressively by his trainer, former champion Joey Gamache. Chisora (36-13) gets extra credit for fighting through a bad cut that poured blood into his right eye. Official scores were 117-109, 116-110 and a way-to-close 114-112.
