Chechenev outweighs Mazikin

PRESS RELEASE: Undefeated Russian heavyweight Valerie Chechenev (265 lb.) outweighed his opponent Alex Mazikin (245 lb.), an undefeated heavyweight from the Ukraine by 21 pounds at the official weigh-in prior to their fight on Tuesday at Hohenstaufenhalle in Göppingen, Gemany.

Valerie Chechenev, 10-0 (7), faces Alex Mazikin, 5-0 (1), in a clash of two undefeated Eastern European heavyweight contenders, broadcast live on the internet on www.boxing.de.

The event is promoted by Spotlight Boxing and takes place at Hohenstaufenhalle of Göppingen, Germany.

The event and the internet live broadcast on www.boxing.de starts at 19:00 (German time). Start times in the US are 1 PM ET and 10 AM PT.

For the huge 6-foot-6 Chechenev it will be the second fight against a stable mate inside the last two months. On September 28 the 25-year-old Spotlight fighter inflicted the first loss to previously undefeated Bagrat Ohanyan and kicked his rival out of the Universum stable.

Chechenev now wants to do the same with Alex Mazikin, another heavyweight contender of the Universum boxing stable, who twice fought his Ukrainian countryman Vitali Klitschko in the amateurs. The powerful Russian will expect strong resitance from Mazikin who reached the quarter finals of two Olympic Games – Sydney and Athen.

The undercard of the internet live broadcast features four other fights.

In the main event at Hohenstauffenhalle, broadcast live on Eurosport, Firat Arslan, 23-3-1 (16), will defend his WBO intercontinental cruiserweight title against Chilen Carlos Cruzat, 30-6 (22).
