Word has reached Boxingtalk.com that former WBC junior lightweight champion Jesus "El Matador" Chavez is on the verge of inking a promotional deal with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. In addition to signing with GBP, Boxingtalk understands Chavez will challenge newly crowned IBF lightweight champion Leavander Johnson on the televised undercard of the September 17 Marco Antonio Barrera-Robbie Peden unification bout that will also feature Shane Mosley's second fight back at welterweight against Jose Luis Cruz. Louis Messorana confirmed that the following scenario's are all in serious disuccsion, though Chavez's manager tells us nothing has been solidified as of yet.
