After the fight Matt Vanda went on to say "I just couldn't do what I wanted, he kept me off balance.  He would move and my punches would just miss him.  It was a hell of a fight.  I wish he was here so I could tell him.  He  got me with a couple left hooks that were just like his dads.  I was never hurt but he was the busier fighter and he deserved to win.   Chavez became a man tonight.  He is no longer a boy.   As for me I will go back to the gym and get ready for the next fight.  I will get back at it."
 
Arum then said that Vanda will definitely be on another Top Rank card and fought a hell of a fight.
 
Chavez who was paraphrased and through interpreter was Asked what was different tonight, "Vanda got to see the real me tonight. I am not sick. I am 100%.  He is a tough fighter but I fought a good fight and won."
 
On asked when he will step up to real competition "I do what my bosses say. Bob Arum sets the fights.  All I do is fight"
 
On his next fight "There are crazy things going on in boxing.  De La Hoya is fighting Pacquiao so they probably want me to fight Jorge Arce."
 
On Pacquiao vs De La Hoya "Let me tell you this.  De La Hoya is going to have problems with Pacquiao.  That is from a fighters perspective.  De La Hoya will probably win but it won't be easy"  He then looks to Arum "Bob pay me my money so I can bet it all on Pacquiao."  (everyone laughs)  "All the Mexicans are going for Pacquiao"
 
 
Chavez when asked who he wants next "I want Vernon Forrest."  That was before the De La Hoya rant. During the De La Hoya rant he also said "When Oscar wants someone his own size I will fight him"
