Chantelle Cameron defeats Katie Taylor

Chantelle Cameron W10 Katie Taylor...In Dublin, world junior welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron defeated world lightweight champion Katie Taylor by majority decision. The official scores were 95-95 and two cards of 96-94 for Cameron. The final Punchstat numbers also favored Cameron, crediting her with 141 punches landed to Taylor's 111. Cameron (18-0) has won six straight championship bouts but this was easily the biggest win of her career, even bigger than when she defeated world welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill (at junior welterweight). Taylor (22-1) suffered her first career loss but remains the undisputed ruler of the women's 135-pound category.

Taylor's former foe, multi-division champion Amanda Serrano tweeted, "Congratulations to Chantelle Cameron on a great win. Hats off to Katie Taylor for going up a weight class vs. the champion. It’s not that easy going up in weight but that’s what you do when you believe in yourself. Great night for women’s boxing." Serrano tried the and failed the same feat against Taylor (moving up in weight) that Taylor failed against Cameron.
