Moments ago Ruslan Chagaev captured the WBA heavyweight title via majority decision over previously unbeaten champion Nikolai Valuev. Chagaev beat the slower and out of shape Valuev to the punch throughout, landed the cleaner shots and put on a tremendous display of ring generalship that negated the Giant's aggression. Official scores were (a ridiculous) 114-114, 115-113, 117-111. Boxingtalk scored the fight 116-112 for Chagaev who improved to 25-0-1.
