Castillejo defeats Sturm in Germany

Javier Castillejo TKO10 Felix Sturm... In this era of dime-a-dozen so-called world championships, Javier Castillejo of Spain is now a two-time world titlist, defeating Felix Sturm in Hamburg, Germany for Sturm's paper WBA regular championship.  American referee Mark Nelson stopped the bout after Castillejo connected with three heavy left uppercuts to Sturm's chin. Sturm may have suffered a broken jaw.  Sturm was also down in the second round, but had outboxed Castillejo for most of the others and appeared to be ahead on the cards.  Sturm, 25-2, claimed the WBA regular title by beating Maselino Masoe, who had not fought in nearly two years prior. Sturm's first "championship" was of the vacant WBO variety against Hector Velazco. Castillejo, 61-6, held the WBC 154-pound title from 1999 to 2001 before losing to Oscar De La Hoya. In fairness to Castillejo, he does hold a 2002 win over highly respected Roman Karmazin. source: associated press/ yahoo! deutschland
